What We Do

Road Safety Initiatives LLP are proud to provide a bespoke Road Safety Audit and Engineering Service throughout the UK and Internationally.

Road Safety Initiatives LLP was founded in December 2012.  The two Partners, Mark Hedley and Martin Morley are both competent road safety and traffic engineers, with over 40 years of experience between them.  We also have a team of other road safety engineering consultants in support.

What We Do

As our name suggests, the main passion of our Partnership is road safety engineering; we are determined to reduce the number of people injured or killed on the road network.  We do this by preventing collisions through our practical recommendations in Road Safety Audits (all stages), collisions studies and Road Safety Reviews.

Since its inception in December 2012, Road Safety Initiatives LLP has carried out around 650 Road Safety Audits and Safety Reviews, along with NMU and Quality Audits from local roads (city centres, urban, residential and rural) through to the Trunk Road and Motorway Network.  Our Partners have the Highways England Approved Certificate of Competency in Road Safety Audit.  Beyond the UK, Road Safety Initiatives LLP has carried out Road Safety Audits on over 80 schemes in Qatar.

Road Safety Initiatives LLP can also provide other highway, traffic and road safety engineering services including:

What We Believe

Many of us have either been injured in a road accident or we know someone close that has been injured or even killed in a collision. At Road Safety Initiatives LLP, we are passionate about reducing the number of people injured or killed on the roads.  Developing your roads for a safer future really does matter to us.  We are doing this by preventing accidents happening in the first place and by responding to the many accidents that are already happening.  Our practical recommendations in Road Safety Audits, Collision Studies and Road Safety Reviews will save your organisation time, adverse publicity, litigation, money and also help to minimise the trauma and trouble of road injuries.

Highway Authorities also have responsibilities and statutory duties for highway maintenance and road safety. They are also subject to the civil law of negligence or criminal offences following a fatal road traffic collision. Section 39 of the 1988 Road Traffic Act places a statutory road safety duty on Local Authorities to prevent collisions on new roads. Section 41 of the 1980 Highways Act places a duty on local authorities to maintain the highway.

The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 was introduced to allow corporate bodies (i.e. highway authorities) to be more easily prosecuted for Corporate Manslaughter. The Highway Authority can be liable if a person is killed as a result of senior management failure that falls below what could be reasonably expected and there is The Disability Discrimination Act 2005.
